VIII. Wallace

Stage I

"Aha! I knew it was in there!" Wallace chirps excitedly. You follow his gaze to find a dusty, mechanical mouse toy buried beneath a huge pile of laundry. "Elara and the Watchmaker spent weeks on this thing, but I guess it broke at some point. Come on, let's bring it to the workshop. We've got work to do!"

Prompt: Draw or write about your Minikin pulling a mechanical mouse toy out of a laundry pile.

Wallace circles the toy, sniffing it from different angles. "Just as I suspected. Clogging!" He points to a thick tangle of wool and dust jammed in the back of the wheels. "All we have to do is yank that gunk out, so it can actually spin!" He stares at you expectantly... by "we" he means "you."

Prompt: Draw or write about your Minikin pulling hairballs out of the mouse's wheels.

"Hmmm... I think it just needs a jumpstart now," Wallace says. He eyes a brass key on the mouse's side, seemingly deep in thought. He bats at it. His ghostly paws slide right off, and he huffs. "You're up. Climb up there and give it a crank!"

Prompt: Draw or write about your Minikin turning the giant winding key.

With a sudden whir-clack-zip, the mouse explodes into motion. It skitters across the floorboards in a chaotic zigzag, knocking various objects aside along the way. Wallace lets out a loud, happy trill and begins to chase the toy with a kitten-like joy. "It works! Look at it go!"

Prompt: Draw or write about your Minikin riding the mechanical mouse while Wallace chases it.
